I don't want to go as far to say that our last Sunday adventure to Monteynard was a failure, but it certainly wasn't a success. So, we wanted to make sure this particular Sunday was a little more planned and researched.
I had been to Villard de Lans in 2016 with a friend from Egypt who, had not in current memory, seen or experienced snow. It was a magical adventure. Having grown up in Maine, where dealing with piles and piles of snow each winter is second nature, it was enchanting to look at her look at the snow with such fascination. It brought out the children in us, with a make-shift snowball fight, snow angels, and all the fun that snow brings.
With these fond memories of the small mountain town, I knew we had to add it to the list of Sunday adventures. I also had a desire to try snowshoeing in the Alps this winter (a sport where I was much, much less at risk of dislocating a shoulder like I had done the previous winter while learning to snowboard -- although it is on my list to try again).
Saturday afternoon we called Intersport to make sure we could rent showshoes and the next day we headed up to the resort town to spend the day exploring in the snow.
