Tuesday night, after feeling overwhelmed with work and school preparations, I felt a sudden urge to be by the beach. All I could think about was having the beach at my fingertips all summer on the Vineyard and my recent trip to Brighton with Blair. I love the ocean. It calms me down and puts me in a sort of peace.
I opened up Google Maps to look for a place not too far but far enough to escape the massifs of the Alps. I couldn't make up my mind so I shut my computer and headed to bed. The following day began with a text I didn't know I was waiting for: "I'm going to Nice this weekend, you should meet me!"
So right away I booked a BlaBlaCar headed straight to the Côte d'Azur to meet Blair for a weekend in Nice. As always, we got a good taste of nightlife and spent the night celebrating life with other travelers we had the opportunity to cross paths with. We spent a lot of time sitting on the beach and taking in the blue of the ocean. Walks along the Promenade des Anglais, climbing the stairs to the viewpoint, finding the most expensive burger joint to cure our self-induced nausea from the night before.
It was a much needed getaway - one of those trips thats good for the soul. There is something so therapeutic about the color of the water and the sun shining on your face, sitting there by the Mediterranean. The only place where feeling blue is soothing.
